JK's at St Michaels can boast an absolutely picture-perfect setting. Overlooking the magnificent St Mary's Church in the heart of tourist-friendly Painswick, the restaurant is housed within a beautiful 17th-Century listed building. Jean and business partner Angela are co-owners of this wonderful eatery. Here, Jean has realised her vision to serve fabulous, inventive food at affordable prices, coaxing visitors to return time after time.
Inspired creativity is at the heart of every dish on JK's modern European menu. Dine at lunchtime or in the evening from the a la carte, or select from the ever-changing specials board. The whole team is dedicated to supporting other local businesses by ensuring ingredients come from farmers and suppliers based in the immediate area, whenever possible.
So, what can you expect to eat? A pear and black pudding starter, with a sticky balsamic glaze, and a skilfully composed Roquefort, chicory and walnut salad might be among the options. A generous portion of pan-fried sea bass with a vibrant sweet chilli sauce accompanied by hand-cut chips is an example of the kind of main course devised by Jean. To finish, you'll find such delights as smile-inducing banana and Baileys bread and butter pudding and fruity French-inspired cherry clafoutis to choose from.
